The Eternal

Includes All Covers and CDSonic Youth is an American rock band formed in New York City in 1981. The current lineup consists of Thurston Moore (vocals and guitar), Kim Gordon (vocals, bass, guitar), Lee Ranaldo (vocals and guitar), Mark Ibold (bass) and Steve Shelley (drums).
In their early career, Sonic Youth was associated with the No Wave art and music scene in New York City. Part of the first wave of American noise rock groups, the band carried out their interpretation of the hardcore punk ethos throughout the evolving American underground that focused more on the DIY ethic of the genre rather than its specific sound. As a result, Sonic Youth was pivotal in the rise of the alternative rock movement.
Sonic Youth have expressed a wide variety of influences, ranging from the influential protopunk musician Patti Smith to composer John Cage. The band has been praised for having “redefined what rock guitar could do”, using a wide variety of unorthodox guitar tunings, and preparing guitars with objects like drumsticks and screwdrivers to alter the instruments’ timbre.

Seth Lakeman – Four Albums
Seth Lakeman
Seth Bernard Lakeman (born March 26, 1977 in Yelverton, Devon) is an English folk singer, songwriter, and musician. In 2002 Lakeman released his first solo album, The Punch Bowl, which received wide critical acclaim including a review in fRoots magazine which said: “The songs don’t just glide smoothly by…..they get their claws into you”.
Kitty Jay, Lakeman’s second solo album was released in 2004. The title track of the album tells the story of Jay’s Grave, a well known location on Dartmoor. The album was recorded for a cost of less than £300. That same year he collaborated with Devon singer-songwriter Steve Knightley and young local singer Jenna Witts on the album Western Approaches.
A sell out UK tour in Autumn 2005 followed his Mercury Music Prize nomination, after which Lakeman and his band (regularly brother Sean (guitar), Ben Nichols (bass), Andy Tween (drums), toured extensively with folk-rock giants The Levellers, who took to closing their set with a “fiddle off” between Lakeman and Levellers’ fiddler Jon Sevink. Other support tours with Billy Bragg and Jools Holland brought Lakeman’s music to a wider audience.

External Review
Using the textured soundscapes of The Bends as a launching pad, Radiohead delivered another startlingly accomplished set of modern guitar rock with OK Computer. The anthemic guitar heroics present on Pablo Honey and even The Bends are nowhere to be heard here. Radiohead have stripped away many of the obvious elements of guitar rock, creating music that is subtle and textured yet still has the feeling of rock & roll. Even at its most adventurous — such as the complex, multi-segmented “Paranoid Android” — the band is tight, melodic, and muscular, and Thom Yorke’s voice effortlessly shifts from a sweet falsetto to vicious snarls. It’s a thoroughly astonishing demonstration of musical virtuosity and becomes even more impressive with repeated listens, which reveal subtleties like electronica rhythms, eerie keyboards, odd time signatures, and complex syncopations. Yet all of this would simply be showmanship if the songs weren’t strong in themselves, and OK Computer is filled with moody masterpieces, from the shimmering “Subterranean Homesick Alien” and the sighing “Karma Police” to the gothic crawl of “Exit Music (For a Film).” OK Computer is the album that establishes Radiohead as one of the most inventive and rewarding guitar rock bands of the ’90s.
